WITH THE COUNTDOWN TO THE PROJECT'S FINAL DAYS, THE GROOVE ZONE PREPS FOR A BUSY BUT BRILLIANT CLOSING TO A SUCCESSFUL 22-MONTH RUN!
IF ANYONE HAD TOLD THE NEO RETROfm (OLY WA) DJ CREW AND STAFF WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN THE STATION LAUNCHED IN JUNE 2020, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN AS A PIPEDREAM, AS FAR AS THE TALENT THAT WOULD EVENTUALLY APPEAR AS SPECIAL GUESTS ON THE NETWORK'S PROGRAMS.
THE DECISION TO DO A FULL-ON DANCE MARATHON CAME AROUND THE SAME TIME AS WHEN THE CREW DECIDED NOT TO PURSUE ANOTHER YEAR'S CONTRACT AT THE PRESENT TIME.Â
AS A LONGTIME NIGHTCLUB DJ (1984-2007), D-PHOENIX SPECIALIZED IN, AND WAS/IS A FAN OF, DANCE MUSIC CLASSICS. RANGING FROM THE GO-GO DAZE OF THE 1960s TO THE GLORY DAZE OF 70s DISCO AND FUNK, THROUGH THE CLUB DAZE OF THE 80s AND INTO THE PRESENT DAY OF DANCE MUSIC, THE RESIDENT DJ IS A GOOD ONE FOR KNOWING THE INS AND OUTS OF DIFFERENT DANCE GENRES AND STYLES FROM HIS DAYS/NIGHTS AS A CLUB DJ.

EGAN'S FORMER VISAGE BANDMATE BILLY CURRIE HAD APPEARED ON THE PROGRAM BACK IN 2021.
TO TOP OFF THE LOVE-FEST, THERE WAS ALSO A SPECIAL APPEARANCE BY WIRED, A MEMBERÂ OF SOLDIERS OF MONOCHROME, THE U.K. HIP-HOP TRIO.

On only two separate occasions has the resident DJ ever presented a "Locals Only" version of the weekly radio show. The program featured a lineup of the station's featured local and regional artists. instead of the usual major label artists that are in the mix.
Tracks by Buzzfactor, MTR Project, Ghoster, Wartux, The Boss Martians, Hellbot, Forget Me Not, and more were set into the mix on this episode.

NOBODY TOLD ME THERE'D BE DAYS LIKE THESE!
If not a single challenge ever stood in the way of progress, the online radio project would be a global success! All kidding aside, even with the obstacles, hurdles, and setbacks throughout the course of the station's first 4 seasons, they managed to keep the beast alive and somewhat well.
As of this entry, there is a possible new DJ gone M.I.A. in the past couple of weeks, another new DJ had to bow out of his commitment just days ago, and there is a couple with a relevant talk show on the horizon who have yet to confirm and commit to the network.
However, this 4th season that the crew are launching looks to be an exciting one, complete with two new envelope-pushing programs, both from undisclosed locations in the U.S.
THE PATRIOT FACTOR w/ SFC SPENCE

The nation is going through some pretty major changes these days. From corporate and government upheavals and protests, to metropolitan takeovers and deteriorating infrastructure... where is the Justice League when you need them?
No fear, SFC Spence is here!
He's bringing his in-your-face, no-holds-barred approach to his new show "The Patriot Factor" weekly to the world at large!
He's already familiar to listeners and viewers of the "Hook, Line & Thinker" podcast on Neo RetroFM (Oly WA), as SFC Diggler. He's a regular panelist on the fringe conspiracy theory-inspired show that was originally co-hosted by DUB FX and the station's resident DJ D-Phoenix.
This venture into podcasting is his first solo flight in the world of radio broadcasting. His premiere episode of The Patriot Factor was aired LIVE on December 9, 2021.Â

THE ILLUSION DELUSION HOUR
Hosted by Trunk Monkey Saturdays 6 pm Pacific time
There is no information on the show, its host, nor its content, themes or outline.
The program's anonymous host, Trunk Monkey, contacted the staff at Neo Retro FM (Olympia WA) late in the summer of 2021, offering technical assistance to the program directors.
That didn't turn out as expected. What did transpire, however, was Trunk Monkey's random appearances on the station's podcast "Hook, Line & Thinker" as a panelist. However, her face is never shown.
The location of The Illusion Delusion Hour's host is and has been unknown and undisclosed to the station staff. All that is known is that it streams from within the United States of America.
There has been no prior notification given the Groove Zone, on behalf of the show's production team as to what the program's content, themes, nor special guests.
"This is a first for us. We haven't ever dealt with a program with such anonymity before this came along," stated a program director recently, "we understand their desire to remain anonymous, but it does create some anxiety for us, in that there really isn't any way to promote something that we have no information about. Promotions of our show rosters and DJ staff is commonplace for us. We're watching the reports on this program closely to gauge audience response and turnout."
Literally, the listeners who tune in each Saturday evening at 6 pm Pacific time know as much about the mysterious program as the staff of the online radio project do.
Due to graphic and mature content, it is suggested for listeners 18 and over, and listener discretion is advised.
ECLECTIC AVENUE
w/ DJ HIVESWITCH Sundays 8-10 pm Pacific time
Cruising into his second season with Neo RetroFM (Olympia WA), DJ Hiveswitch has taken the reins of the Sunday night program schedule, bringing his awesome mixed bag of musical goodies to the evening audience at 8 pm. One of the smoothest blends of rap, reggae, dub, trip hop, country, and more...
On a somewhat humorous side-note, there have been numerous times during DJ Hiveswitch's show that the resident DJ will be listening in to the station, hear one of the songs on "Eclectic Avenue" and temporarily freak out a bit because he doesn't recognize the artist or song, and then it occurs to him that it's the other DJ at the controls.
Tuning in to "Eclectic Avenue" on Sunday nights is one of the best ways to bring your weekend to a close.

THE DARKEST HOUR
Hosted by Amanda Jane Fri & Sat 11 pm - Midnight Pacific time
So far, the one and only program to navigate its way through the entire project is the late night spook-fest known as "The Darkest Hour", hosted by Amanda Jane (Forget Me Not).
During the project's 4th season, the weekly true story narrated program has been expanded to 2 nights a week, airing on both Friday and Saturday nights from 11 pm to 12 Midnight Pacific time.
The show consists of Amanda Jane retelling the first-hand tales from listeners about their encounters with everything from ghosts to cryptids to other things that go bump in the night.
So, congratulations to Amanda and her husband Ryan (music, effects) on a job well done!

THE SESSIONS
w/ DJ D-Phoenix Fridays @ 9 am & 7 pm Pacific
The resident DJ of Neo RetroFM (Oly WA) is DJ D-Phoenix. He has continued to do his LIVE DJ sessions throughout the entirety of the project, even though times and dates have fluctuated throughout the program schedule.
The Sessions also doubles as the setting for the various Special Guest appearances by recording artists from the world of rock, set in a casual discussion between the guest and the resident DJ.
The LIVE DJ sets often include the birthday shout-outs, when D-Phoenix goes over his list of recently celebrated birthdays of friends, fans, and listeners.
Whether it's good music you're after, or maybe just a ringside seat to the frantic and fun atmosphere of The Sessions, you still have time to experience the new alternative from one of the longest-running DJs in the South Puget Sound area of Washington State, DJ D-Phoenix.
HOOK, LINE & THINKER:
A Christmas Special Marathon
SATURDAY DECEMBER 25 5 PM Pacific time
To say that the "Hook, Line & Thinker" podcast would ever become a household name is a pipedream. The reality of that happening is a dream come true.
The podcast that was originally started and co-hosted by DUB FX and DJ D-Phoenix became a legitimate entity of its own by the 3rd season of the project.
Listeners had come to know panelists Doug Next Door, SFC Diggler, Oz (The Former Paranormal Investigator), Sponge AKA Chocolate Thunder, Danny Boy, Sister Foo, Tamie 2.0 and the others as regular staples of the station's lineup.

MARCH MADNESS 2022
NEW WAVE ICONS DOMINATE THE 2-WEEK LINEUP OF SPECIAL EDITIONS OF THE SESSIONS w/ DJ D-PHOENIX

A FLOCK OF SEAGULLS
FRIDAY MARCH 4 5 pm Pacific
This edition marks a second meeting (of sorts) between AFOS frontman MIKE SCORE and the resident DJ. The first time was nearly 25 years ago when AFOS played a show at the legendary Evergreen Ballroom, and the DJ was in attendance with friends that night.
The show was incredible, and the bonus of the night was that because the DJ's friends were the opening act for AFOS, they were able to go backstage after the concert and socialize with members of both bands, thus the chance to meet Mike Score.
Reunions aside, this edition is a very special one for a few reasons. Also sitting in with the DJ during this conversation are Seattle's DJ DUCKIE, and BRAD B of the Olympia band C AVERAGE.
