THE GROOVE ZONE: 1989-2022
THE PROJECT'S SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS
Among the more recent productions offered by the collective was The 17th Of Never online concert event, which boasted a 506 audience member total, with nearly another 2,000 engagements; the podcast "Hook, Line & Thinker", originally co-hosted by Australian recording artist DUB FX and the project's resident DJ D-Phoenix, has turned into quite a show of its own; and "The Sessions w/ dj d-phoenix", the mixed variety music show that features celebrity interviews, and exclusive DJ sets.
THE GROOVE ZONE ON TV
After the unexpected shift in February 2021, The Groove Zone made its way to online video presentations.
Starting Saturday March 20th, 2021, The Groove Zone's shows "THE SESSIONS w/ DJ D-Phoenix" and "HOOK, LINE & THINKER" transitioned from audio-only offerings to their video counterparts, airing through its Facebook page at www.facebook.com/olygroovezone.
The first show to air on the March 20th lineup is the new "DAD ABOUT TOWN" a comic segment about a Gen-X dad of 3 young adult kids coping with modern day life near Seattle, WA. It has no set schedule for installments.
The featured presentation on that day was the latest edition of "THE SESSIONS", a variety-style format that regularly features music celebrity interviews, hosted by The GZ resident DJ D-Phoenix.
The inaugural episode featured JEZ WILLIS of UTAH SAINTS, and the host was joined by Neo Retro FM's DJ DUCKIE (Seattle WA) for the conversation.
The special surprise for viewers was that the first video airing of the BILLY CURRIE interview came on right after Willis'. Currie is a member of ULTRAVOX and VISAGE, two of the iconic new wave bands from the U.K.
This was one of the early Zoom interviews using both audio and video, prior to the full-video phase.
The first video episode of the "HOOK, LINE & THINKER" podcast series, previously available in audio form only, was scheduled for an April 3 air date.
The collective plans to present both of the main shows in their original video versions each month.
